Local Bahamian cook and cultural guide
There’s No Place Like Home
This online experience covers cooking, culture, and entertainment because in the Bahamas they are often enjoyed together! With your ingredients ready, be guided through a favorite Bahamian recipe by one of our expert, local cooks. While you’re bringing the island smells to life in your kitchen, we’ll discuss the culture behind the tastes and scents. With some simple tools, we will make our own Junkanoo souvenir, to remember the experience by.
Immerse yourself in everything Bahamian and interact with history. This isn’t just a cooking class but a chance to experience a local travel experience in a new way. Once the meal is ready, the best presentations will be judged and receive a prize. We invite you to share your photos with us via our website or tag us on social media.
To complete the experience, your guide will wow you with classic Bahamas Junkanoo entertainment. Junkanoo is about expressing passion and soul through music, color, movement, and fun. You’ll be transported to the island, forgetting that you never left your home!

This a great way to truly experience the island! Donald is knowledgeable about all things in Bahamian culture. We had full transport to/from our pickup location, and a great tour of the island with Donald answering all of our questions. We had the best conch fritters since arriving and the lunch that was prepared for us was absolutely delicious! This is a must if you enjoy experiencing true Bahama culture!
This was by far my favourite excursion that I did while in Freeport! Don the tour guide was excellent and informative. We got to see more of the actual city and how the residents actually live instead of being taken to places where you can buy t-shirts. The junkanoo museum was cool and the lunch at Buddies by the Bay was great! Highly recommend it!
Donald and Diane do a great job with this cultural experience. We loved hearing about the history of Freeport and had a wonderful meal. This was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Freeport.
Our hosts were so accommodating both with dietary restrictions and with timing. They provided us with a highly personalized and intimate experience to learn about Grand Bahama, cook some phenomenal food, listen to traditional music, and made it such a memorable day. We had really wonderful conversations about history, politics, nature, tourism, the different Bahamian islands, and so much more. The folks here are truly passionate about sharing their knowledge and stories, and their enthusiasm is contagious!
The experience was honestly not like I expected but better. My mother and I went on a cruise and wanted to get a local’s perspective on the island. The knowledge I gained about Freeport and the Bahamas as a whole I would not have been able to gain if Donald wouldn’t have offered this tour. Donald knows everyone and everyone knows him, making us feel completely comfortable in our surroundings.
